About

Toy swaps are a great way both to bring people together and to remind everyone that what may be waste to one person may be happily reused by somebody else – meaning less useful stuff ending up in the bin. It also means less on your pocket, since it is estimated that in the UK the average spend per child on toys is £294 annually! Join us for Growing Up Green Outdoor Gear + Toy Swap where kids can swap up to 5 toys with other children and families can swap preloved outdoor clothing and footwear for babies, children and their grown ups. Children can donate a toy they no longer need in exchange for picking another toy for free.

How it works...

When you bring in your toys, volunteers will put them on display. Children are then given tickets for the toys they brought in, that they can go and swap for different toys/books.  We are hoping to get a mixture of baby, pre-school, infant and junior toys, so there should be something for everyone. Toys should be given in good condition and please clean them before giving them and after receiving them with an antibacterial spray. Toys can be dropped off before the event from 11am or brought with you when you arrive.

This year we are including Outdoor Gear in our swap and launching the Bearwood Welly Bank. If you have any outgrown

outdoor clothing and footwear for babies, children and their grown ups, including:

  • wellies/snow boots/walking boots
  • waterproofs (separates or all-in-ones)
  • rainproof jackets/coats
  • fleeces/underlayers

Bring them along to the swap too and hopefully find items that you need this autumn/winter.

💚 Growing Up Green is a Children and Family Arts Festival that celebrates action on climate change as part of The Great Big Green Week. The festival will take place across Birmingham and the Black Country during the week of 18- 26 September 2021 and will give children an opportunity to be in relationship with nature, nurture their curiosity in everyday ecology and help signpost a way to being environmentallyresponsible now and in the future.
